T
his listing is for a vintage Brilhart saxophone neck strap. Brilhart is most well known for their mouthpieces, but the company made a full line of accessories, including several style of saxophone neck straps. This is a rather rare version, which utilizes a rubber tube instead of a traditional neck pad.
It has a black and white adjustment mechanism. I would guess that this strap dates to the 1950's or 60's.
This strap is in overall very good condition. There is a very minor chip on the back (black) side of the adjuster mechanism, but it works just fine. The rubber part is not cracked or damaged.
A lot of well known players used Brilhart straps back in the day. They are prominently featured on album covers by John Coltrane (Blue Trane) and Sonny Rollins (Newk's Time). If you want to play like those cats, you need this strap! Okay, I'm just joking, but it is cool nonetheless.
Actually, I would say that this strap is more in the realm of collectible item as opposed to something for everyday use.
This would look great in a display case with other vintage sax memorabilia though!
Please feel free to message me with any questions.
Thanks again for looking!
